La EPC (Escuela para la Prevención de la Violencia) se desarrolla internacionalmente y con vocación multidisciplinar bajo la dirección del doctorando universitario José Carlos Vera.

Saber canalizar los actos violentos a través de la investigación científica y estrategias defensivas implantadas por un equipo multidisciplinar. Es el objetivo fundamental de la Escuela para la Prevención de la Violencia con sede en San Fernando, aunque de aspiraciones internacionales a tenor del proyecto sobre el que se sustenta, el mismo que comenzó a gestarse hace años.

De hecho fue entre 2006 y 2007 cuando surgió, en base a una idea propia, la primera titulación en formación a policías desarrollada internacionalmente. Debido al éxito de esta iniciativa y a los conocimientos paulatinamente adquiridos, decidió crear una entidad que le permitiese ponerlos en práctica, naciendo entonces la EPV para fundir la Criminología en su vertiente más empírica con un programa de técnicas de contacto, ya que “debemos aprender a canalizar los actos violentos mediante actividades que a veces nos hacen llegar a extremos para controlar situaciones”, explica Vera.

Acaba de estar en República Dominicana para firmar un convenio con la empresa Scenarios Security Group, pero también ha visitado Colombia, Argentina, Costa Rica, México… con la idea de acrecentar su experiencia internacional sobre el objeto de estudio, que no es otro que la prevención de riesgos laborales en la intervención policial, abordando asuntos tales como el impacto en zonas vitales a la hora de reducir a las personas. Se trata de deducir, por un lado, los riesgos que corre la policía, y, por otro, las lesiones que sufren los ciudadanos, todo ello reflejado en un Proyecto de Fin de Grado que bajo el título ‘La intervención policial y prevención de riesgos’ (2014) compatibilizó con un trabajo coordinado entre las universidades de Cádiz y Granada entre 2012 y 2015. Sus conclusiones han sido trasladadas recientemente al ministerio correspondiente.

Tales conocimientos son invertidos vocacionalmente y a modo de inversión en la Escuela para la Prevención de la Violencia sita en el número 10 de la calle Pérez Galdós, en San Fernando. Allí aborda todas las variantes, desde formación a policías, agentes de seguridad privada o escoltas profesionales hasta los actores sociales involucrados en otros casos de violencia. Por ejemplo, la violencia de género -que cuenta con aplicación propia desarrollada por la entidad, ‘Anticípate’- y el bullying -o acoso escolar-, que tras ser trabajados por la asociación en diversos centros escolares son ahora aglutinados en su propia sede sin ningún tipo de ánimo de lucro. Por una cuota mínima, los afectados reciben asesoramiento, nociones básicas de intervención, conocimiento teórico y talleres prácticos para canalizar la violencia, para llegar al embrión del problema y buscar soluciones. Todo ello contando con el visto bueno de la Cátedra de Empresa de la Universidad de Cádiz.
